A future-focused connective hub
TLT needed more than a new Birmingham office. They wanted a regional hub; a place where teams from Birmingham, Manchester and Bristol can connect, collaborate and host clients.
The challenge was to create something that would:
- Embed wellbeing, inclusion and long-term usability
- Work for 60 people today, with capacity for growth (90 desks)
- Support hybrid working and cross-office collaboration
- Deliver a high-quality client experience
- Provide flexibility for events and team connection
Having worked with TLT for over 30 years, we understood the space needed to be fit for the future of the firm – while also being frictionless for their immediate day-to-day requirements.
Modern problems, modern solutions
Panoramic vision

Like all of our work with TLT, this was a collaborative process.
TLT brought the challenges; evolving working patterns, generational differences and high client expectations. We worked together to shape solutions that would support both current and future ways of working, ensuring employee wellness and client comfort remained foregrounded.
This meant focusing not just on layout, but on the details that make a workplace actually work:
- How people collaborate day-to-day
- How hybrid meetings function seamlessly
- How the space supports different types of work and different types of people
This resulted in a hospitality-led layout, anchored by a central barista-style coffee space that acts as both a social hub and client arrival experience.
Around this, the space is designed to flex:
- A large, multi-purpose meeting suite for events, with doors opening into the bar area to increase capacity
- Client-facing spaces designed to feel welcoming and informal, rather than traditional
- Focus rooms for deep, individual work
- An employee lounge to support informal collaboration
- A wellness and nursing room, alongside a dedicated Wudu room
- Shared areas positioned to maximise panoramic views across Birmingham
The result is a workplace that supports focused work, collaboration and client interaction, within one connected environment.
A long-term legal partnership
Trust built over decades
As part of our 30+ year partnership. Interaction has delivered multiple workplaces for TLT across the UK, including London, Manchester, Glasgow and Edinburgh.
TLT’s Chief People Officer, Helen Hodgkinson says:
“This relationship has been going for 30 years and it’s still the best and right one for us. I don’t ever feel the need to be on top of that project plan.
I know that if there’s any problem, they’ll just pick up the phone and we work it through. There’s a lot to be said about the trust in a partnership.”
Reflecting Birmingham
Cutting the mustard

The design builds on TLT’s brand while grounding the space in its location. A confident mustard-led palette runs throughout, particularly in the bar and social areas, creating warmth and recognisability.
Local identity is embedded through:
- Wood-etched scenes of Birmingham
- A ceramic bull feature referencing the city
- Styling with locally sourced books, objects and floristry
Material choices balance quality, durability and performance:
- Bespoke Diespeker wood terrazzo surfaces
- Carefully considered finishes to support acoustic comfort
The overall feel is clean, vibrant and high-end, without losing usability.
Sustainability was approached pragmatically – focusing on reducing impact while maintaining quality and performance.
Key interventions included:
- Reusing CAT A lighting, adapted to the new design
- Selective furniture reuse
- Sourcing materials and styling locally
This reflects Interaction’s approach: sustainability as part of delivering better commercial and human outcomes, not just a tick-box exercise .

A workplace that works now and in the future
Design with impact
TLT’s new Birmingham hub enables stronger connections across regional teams, a consistent client experience and better support for hybrid working. The space has been designed to evolve, supporting changing working patterns, new technologies and future growth.
For professional services firms, the workplace has become a strategic tool.
It needs to:
- Support hybrid working without diluting culture
- Deliver a high-quality client experience
- Attract and retain talent
- Adapt with the needs of the business
This project shows how the right approach can turn an office into a hub for collaboration, culture and long-term performance.
