Project In A Nutshell
Size: 35,000sq ft
Seeing a fantastic opportunity, Openwork sought out the help of Interaction to create a new workplace to match their ongoing workplace transformation. At the centre of their vision were two key words, ‘Sustainability’ and ‘People’. So, Interaction set out to design and create a brand-new sustainable workplace with modern office facilities that would allow flexibility for Openwork as they developed their ongoing strategy to agile and activity-based working.
With a real focus for a progressive approach to training and staff wellbeing, their new space would be one that put the people at the heart of it. This project would act as the ‘model’ for future Openwork office sites and would offer their staff the facilities to excel.
Large floor plates were transformed into an open feel office space whilst cleverly using attractive joinery and dividers to break spaces up. Focusing on sustainability, it was important to retain and reuse mechanical and electrical systems where possible, whilst upgrading to allow for new breakout spaces, a café and training facilities. LED lights were also installed throughout and furniture was sourced from reliable and sustainable contractors and reused where possible. The overall look and feel is a fresh, energetic and flexible new workspace to be enjoyed by all.
The end result is an office space to inspire people, and the concept of the ‘Openwork Campus’ has been brought to life. The massive 35,000sq ft space spanning over two floors encapsulates every need the business has and wraps it all into one incredible place to work. From an on-site gym, wellbeing suits, canteen and internal café, to progressive training centres for their academy and a multitude of varied and beautiful workspaces, Openwork now have a workplace their staff can be proud of and enjoy being a part of.

"We think of ourselves as being different from many other financial services companies and we wanted the space to reflect that. The space is designed to create a space where innovation can thrive, where staff can work in an agile way and where they can push the boundaries. It now feels more spacious when you walk into the building, with more informal and collaborative meetings spaces.
When people have come into the new space it’s definitely been the WOW factor and has gone down extremely well. We chose Interaction because we were impressed with the design and the way it was presented to us, but ultimately we chose them because we thought they were people that we could work with, and in fit out projects experience tells me that’s the most important thing."
