"The whole team has been impressed by the quality of finish and how your design ideas have made the space a great place to work. It has been commented as 10 times better than our old office and spectacular by our visitors. The new office will really make a difference in ensuring we attract and retain the best staff in our competitive sector which will be a great benefit as we grow and develop the Bristol office."

An in-depth look

The firm, which has a staff of 1,800 in the UK alone, needed its new space to tie in with the identity of its 11 other UK offices, as well as its international branding, while clearly communicating CBRE’s connection to Bristol.  It also wanted to use the office as a tool to attract and retain staff in a competitive sector for top talent.

CBRE needed this total refurbishment project to be carried out within a ‘drop-dead’ timeline of just six weeks, with all building work to be carried out while the rest of Clifton Heights was occupied.

To better connect the two floors, Interaction cut into the centre of the 14th floor to create a brand new, feature staircase. The result seamlessly links the two floors into one functioning office, providing access to meeting rooms and breakout space without using a core staircase or lift.

CBRE’s team had a wide range of work needs and Interaction created a variety of workspaces to reflect these. A large, open plan workspace in the top floor would accommodate a collaborative style of work, with smaller spaces created for meetings. As the building’s top floor has spectacular views across Bristol, this was the ideal location for CBRE’s reception area. The floor to ceiling windows fully exploit these panoramic cityscapes, whilst providing great natural light, all supporting this fantastic work space.

CBRE’s branding was woven into the finishes and furniture across the workplace. Splashes of CBRE’s brand colours of lively green and bright white were used to energise the office’s spaces, with sleek furniture adding to the contemporary look and highly professional feel. Interaction’s team worked in close partnership with CBRE from project inception to completion to manage the work schedule around the client’s exacting needs. Interaction kept CBRE informed at all times about its response to the project brief, which evolved as the client’s requirements came into focus and the potential of the new space became clear.

The result was a client who describes the project as ‘first class’. CBRE staff feel inspired by their workplace and connected to the firm’s local and global reach. Visitors to the office are impressed by its immediate ‘wow factor’, which communicates CBRE’s pride in its Bristol base.

Client feedback

"We have been impressed at Interaction from the very start and always felt we understood the stages of the project as well as the costs, design and specification. Your design team offered some great ideas and were always happy to respond to our developing brief, providing many iterations of the scheme with the same enthusiasm as the first. The project and account managers equally updated and re-presented the specification and cost schedules in concise and clear to understand format which allowed the CBRE team to understand the budget and options we could tale to manage it.

When the project got to the site, I was impressed by the attention to detail displayed by all of your team and their willingness to share information and collaborate with us. The project had some difficult construction elements that had to be approached with some tight site restraints and required some considered ‘back to the drawing board’ thinking. The full team had quite a few late nights and early mornings to get the noisy elements complete without disturbing the other people in the building and all of the way through they were upbeat and positive about the project. Your site manager Tom’s enthusiasm to get the project done on time and done right was an inspiration to all the other people working and he is a asset to your team. The finished workspace is excellent."
