Hello, Hove.
After the success of FOUNDRY Wandsworth, FOUNDRY returned to Interaction to design and deliver their next ambitious coworking space – this time on the south coast. The brief was clear: to create a sustainable, community-led coworking space that felt unmistakably FOUNDRY, while celebrating the town’s unique identity, history, and community spirit.
Backed by Legal & General, FOUNDRY Hove occupies 22,000 sqft on the ground floor of Hove Gardens – L&G’s latest mixed-use, build-to-rent development. Hove Gardens offers residents a wealth of amenities including a private gym, rooftop terrace, TV lounges and courtyard gardens. FOUNDRY complements this perfectly, offering members and residents alike a space that’s more than just a workplace – a hub for connection, creativity and collaboration.
Work and wellness
Rooted in community
Community and wellbeing lie at the heart of FOUNDRY’s ethos, and Hove takes this to the next level. The workspace is connected to Hove Garden Studios – private suites for local wellness practitioners such as dog groomers, hairdressers, beauty therapists and Pilates studios. This pilot concept, already successful at Walthamstow on a much smaller scale, brings local businesses into the space and encourages members to mix, connect and explore, making the workspace a integrated part of the local community.
FOUNDRY Hove also offers coworking areas, 40 dedicated desks, private offices, phone booths, meeting rooms and flexible breakout zones. A reconfigurable event space can be used for networking, workshops, or presentations. The generous kitchen area is the beating heart of the space – full of life throughout the day and home to the famous 4pm FOUNDRY beers that bring members together. And no FOUNDRY space would be complete without fun Easter eggs – enter the ‘disco loo’, which transforms from a standard toilet into a mini dance floor at the push of a button.
We’re really happy with the space and how it’s turned out. We’ve had amazing feedback, both internally and externally and we’re so pleased with how it’s all come together.

Inspired by history
It’s Hove, actually
Hove is often thought of as Brighton’s more refined little sister – less lairy, but full of character. We echoed that through in the design, whilst making sure the space felt distinctly Hove in its own right. The overall aesthetic was dubbed “dark and stormy” – a moody, atmospheric backdrop softened with playful, eclectic touches. Nods to the town’s history as a fishing village and Regency-era resort can be found throughout: threaded details inspired by fishermen’s nets, striped ceiling panels with a nautical edge, and cobalt blue crittall frames referencing a prominent Regency paint pigment. The local landscape also inspired the design, with the use of natural colours throughout, as well as the statement acoustic wall panel in the events space printed with a topographical map of the South Downs.
Styling brings energy and vibrancy into the mix. Alongside the Regency influences, bright colours and bold patterns give the interiors a playful edge, with eclectic details like mismatched colourful lampshades adding character and charm. Local character shines through in every corner. We worked closely with the FOUNDRY team to source curated pieces from Hove boutiques, vintage stores, and local artists, including bespoke artwork by Luce Evers, a FOUNDRY team member. Fatboy Slim records, a Brighton & Hove Albion sign, model seagulls, and meeting rooms named after notable Hovians celebrate the town’s heritage while giving the space personality and warmth.
A bold neon wall sign – “It’s Hove Actually” – sums up the ethos perfectly: a distinctly Hovian workspace designed for and with the local community.

The biggest difference of using Interaction is that the whole package is delivered by one company. Based on Interaction’s track record, we know that they can deliver on time, which gave us confidence when selling to members that they can move in on time.

Great for people, great for the planet
The sustainability story
Sustainability was a core consideration in the design of FOUNDRY Hove. We aligned with WELL standards maximising natural light to create a healthier environment, even in the deep floorplate of the space. Furniture and joinery include FSC-certified timber, while carpets and fabrics incorporate recycled content. Acoustic panels are made from PET recycled plastics, and Bauwerk paints – made with natural pigments – contribute to a healthier, low-VOC environment. Durasien worktops were chosen for their durability and longevity, and low water-consumption sanitaryware further reduces environmental impact. Alongside these choices, the space was designed to meet BREEAM standards, ensuring it delivers on both sustainability and wellbeing.

Design Features
Details that matter.
In a nod to Hove’s history, the meeting rooms are named after famous local residents, while framed photos of the FOUNDRY Hove team bring the community spirit into the design itself. Even the toilets make a statement, with bold red ceiling stripes and the much-loved disco loo waiting for its next visitor. Eclectic, Hove-inspired styling runs throughout the space. Many of the pieces were sourced from local vintage markets, from Fatboy Slim records to old fishing nets, creating a workplace that feels both playful and rooted in place.
