Setting the stage for global growth

After 14 years in a cramped and restrictive office space, it was time for the expanding Field Marketing Agency eXPD8 to move.

1 Brunswick Square, in the heart of Bristol was the perfect shell to design around, providing first-rate amenities within the floor plate. After only 5 weeks on site, the result is a delighted client and a working environment that allows their team to move towards smarter working practices.

Interaction clearly understood our culture and quickly grasped our vision. They were easy to work with, responsible and flexible. We’re delighted with the service Interaction provided.

Smarter aspirations

Raw design and street smart art

Having occupied a floor on Orchard Street, behind the Bristol Hippodrome, for 14 years, a relocation was overdue. The space had become unable to cater for smarter working practices that eXPD8 aspired towards. It was essential to relocate to a bigger floor plate, with better amenities and more capability, so that they could provide their staff with an environment that will allow for more flexible and agile working.

eXPD8 recognised the importance of providing a happy and healthy working environment, to nurture an efficient and productive workforce. Therefore an important aspect of the brief, was to create an environment that encourages a healthy lifestyle, and reflects the services they provide for their clients.

The design that Interaction conceived was in conjunction with the CAT A space, that provided the ideal backdrop to create and deliver the interior to suit eXPD8’s needs. The result is a stripped back, ‘raw’ design with exposed ceilings and electrical works, that compliments the building and creates an industrial and transparent look.

It was important for eXPD8 to reflect the vibrant and energetic culture through their workplace. Interaction explored their culture and implemented design elements to reflect this. Creating a large breakout area with a graffiti mural on the wall, which encompasses the many successful clients and films that the Marketing Agency have worked with, including Superman, Batman, Captain America and The Minions. The colourful artwork also reflects the location of the office in central Bristol, which is walking distance to the eclectic area of Stokes Croft, famed for its graffiti scene.

What’s on tap?

Stepping away from the desk

As part of creating a happy and healthy working environment, Interaction helped evaluate the importance of ergonomics in the workplace, and ergonomic furniture was specified to ensure the maximum amount of comfort for their team. Interaction also installed a sweet dispenser in the centre of the workplace, to encourage people to step away from their desks and take a break.

Another way Interaction encouraged people to step away from their desks, was in the design of the breakout area, which also brings a bit of fun to the space. This area boasts a multitude of facilities, including a vending machine, drinks fridges, a hot water tap, breakfast bar, high bench and soft seating; all of which aid in supporting and nurturing wellbeing.

This exciting project in the heart of Bristol, is a fantastic illustration of the benefits of investing in wellbeing and culture in your workplace. The result is an absolutely delighted client, who has seen a discernible positive impact on the business as a consequence of the move.
