A Summer of Having a Hoot At Work

All things feathery.
Having a Hoot at Work has had a busy summer – from being designed by Nat Alt to nesting above our office, to finally being sold at the Owls of Bath Charity Auction...
Thousands of people visited Having a Hoot at Work, who was perched on Bartlett Street, just above our office.
Swooping in for a bid
Earlier this week, Bath’s Apex Hotel saw 61 owl sculptures, their designers, sponsors and members of the public all gather to see the bidding take place.
As the second lot of the night, thankfully there wasn't too long to wait for Having a Hoot to be auctioned. Our feathered friend bagged £3,330 from an anonymous online bid - all of which will go to charity. The night raised more than £130,000 overall, which will be split between The Royal United Hospital Cancer Centre, Bath Young Carers Centre, The Roman Baths Archway Project and The UK Little Owl Project.
61 of the sculptures were auctioned, with the most expensive fetching £7,500.
A congratulations is in order…
From June through to September, we opened our owl competition up to members of the public. Entrants needed to count how many smaller owls were hidden within Having a Hoot’s artwork – with the correct number being 5.
We drew a random name from the handful of correct entries… and the winner was Luke! Congratulations! He received his box of prizes in the post, which included personalised sweets and his very own mini owl of Bath to paint. We bet he’s had plenty of inspiration from the colourful owls dotted across the city!
Congratulations to our competition winner, Luke aged 5 from Bath.
