An in-depth look
WYG’s previous office was dated, cramped and Interaction realised it didn’t support their modern way of working. Within the old office, still in Bristol, teams were separated and segregated, not aiding communication or collaboration. With a lack of social space and adequate facilities, Interaction created an improved workspace to bring people together; on one floor on 90 Victoria Street, Bristol.
The culture of the business was pivotal in the design, to reflect a modern and forward thinking company. WYG’s brand identity is also clear as soon as you step into their office, with their distinctive branding and colour palette featuring throughout the workspace. A big part of the brief was to focus on the needs of their employees to support wellbeing. Interaction analysed and questioned employees to collect consistent feedback to adapt and steer the design, discovering what employees wanted from their workspace.
Wellbeing was a recurring theme when designing the office. Many employees cycled into the office, so to encourage and support this active commute, drying cabinets and state-of-the-art showers and bathrooms were provided. Not only this but there was a large importance placed upon the sociability of the workspace, allowing employees to have a dedicated area to relax and socialise.
The office design is largely open-plan, with meeting and project rooms at either end of the floor. The bright and colourful breakout area, including feature walls, vibrant colours, sofas and low hanging lights encourage use and give a residential and homely feel. With large windows that look over the buzz of Victoria Street, giving a sense of life and light to the area.
WYG’s new workspace needed to be flexible, giving employees space and choice. Hot-desking areas, sit-stand desks and acoustic pods all contribute to a flexible workplace. Moveable meeting room walls can provide a large space for social or business events, including their ‘pizza and beer’ night.
Completed in just 6-weeks, WYG relished the opportunity to positively impact upon their business and employees, providing an exciting opportunity for growth and expansion to support their aspirations. Not only this but it provides a modern and up-to-date working environment to support retention and wellbeing - all delivered snag free.
