A statement office in one of the South West’s tallest buildings

When leading global property consultancy CBRE relocated its Bristol base to the top of Clifton Heights, one of the city’s tallest buildings, the firm wanted to seize the opportunity to create a best-in-class office. Interaction design and fitted-out two connecting floors, creating an impressive space for visitors and a flexible working environment for staff.

The firm, which has a staff of 1,800 in the UK alone, needed its new space to tie in with the identity of its 11 other UK offices, as well as its international branding, while clearly communicating CBRE’s connection to Bristol.  It also wanted to use the office as a tool to attract and retain staff in a competitive sector for top talent.

CBRE needed this total refurbishment project to be carried out within a ‘drop-dead’ timeline of just six weeks, with all building work to be carried out while the rest of Clifton Heights was occupied.

The team has been impressed by the quality of finish and how your design ideas have made the space a great place to work. It has been commented as “10 times better” than our old office and “spectacular” by our visitors. The new office will really make a difference in ensuring we attract and retain the best staff in our competitive sector.

Top floor. Top notch

Rooms with a view

To better connect the two floors, Interaction cut into the centre of the 14th floor to create a brand new, feature staircase. The result seamlessly links the two floors into one functioning office, providing access to meeting rooms and breakout space without using a core staircase or lift.

CBRE’s team had a wide range of work needs and Interaction created a variety of workspaces to reflect these. A large, open-plan workspace in the top floor would accommodate a collaborative style of work, with smaller spaces created for meetings. As the building’s top floor has spectacular views across Bristol, this was the ideal location for CBRE’s reception area. The floor to ceiling windows fully exploit these panoramic cityscapes, whilst providing great natural light, all supporting this fantastic workspace.
